Identifive
2014 personality visualisation

Social media has a profound impact on people's lives. Spending so much time on social media platforms induces changes to the social behaviour of individuals. In some cases, it appears as if people are unaware of what image of themselves they are communicating to the outside world through their public social media interactions. IDENTIFIVE is an experiment with the aim to explore social media identity, behaviour and linguistic expressiveness.

IDENTIFIVE describes the personality type of Twitter users with the help of the Big Five personality model. The Big Five personality model describes the personality traits with the dimensions of openness to experience, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness and neuroticism. Through a language analysis of the posted tweets, IDENTIFIVE creates an abstract geometric character, which resembles the twitter user’s traits in its form and colour.

IDENTIFIVE utilises the Twitter API to accumulate data of Twitter users, most importantly their tweets. Using a node.js application, an algorithm identifies keywords that have strong implications for the personality profile. The finished profile gets visualised through the use of three.js.

IDENTIFIVE was a collaborative effort with Dennis Boleslawski and Tobias Goger. The project was exhibited at the see-conference in Wiesbaden in 2015.
